The Berliet VUDB: The elegance of French recognition in 3D

If you're looking for a standout piece in a collection of classic armored vehicles, the Berliet VUDB is undoubtedly the perfect choice. An iconic French reconnaissance vehicle, it exudes a unique personality that I thoroughly enjoyed translating into the world of 3D modeling.

An extraordinary design

Designed for rapid reconnaissance missions in the colonies, the VUDB (Véhicule Usine de Blindage – Armor Factory Vehicle) stands out with its bold lines. Its angular silhouette, a far cry from the rounded shapes of battle tanks of the same era, makes it a visually captivating piece. It is a vehicle that tells another facet of French military history.

The challenge of 3D design

Reproducing the Berliet VUDB required meticulous work on the geometry. The challenge was to faithfully respect the assembly of the riveted armor plates while preserving the fineness of the exterior details.

To offer a truly complete model, I've pushed the level of detail right down to the interior of the cockpit. The driver's seat has been designed to be visible: the steering wheel, levers, and seats have been modeled to allow you to create scenes with open doors or hatches. It's this attention to detail that, in my opinion, makes all the difference once the model is painted and weathered in your diorama.

Why adopt it?

  • Historical originality: A rare vehicle, often overlooked by major industrial model brands.

  • A unique look: Its angular shape offers superb possibilities for playing with shadows when painting.

  • Fidelity: Respected proportions and a fineness of printing that enhances the details of the riveted bodywork.

The little extra that makes all the difference: A complete bivouac scene

To bring your Berliet VUDB to life even further, I've included five exclusive 1/35 scale figures in this kit to depict a moment of rest during an operation. Additionally, for those who prefer larger scales, a specific supplement is included for 1/16 scale , allowing you to create a complete bivouac scene, complete with a campfire . These elements were modeled from my original 3D base, then reworked and optimized with the help of AI to offer a striking level of realism and detail. All that's left is for you to paint them and bring your diorama to life!

An important note on the composition of the stage direction

“I want to be completely transparent with you: I am not a professional figure sculptor. My expertise and passion are primarily focused on the mechanical and technical design of vehicles. Therefore, if you are a figure purist, you will notice that the level of detail does not compete with that of specialized sculptors.”

These five figures and the bivouac accessory primarily constitute my staging composition : it's my artistic vision to allow you to present the vehicle in its real-life context, with a lively atmosphere. I wanted to include this set as a supplement to enrich your building experience and bring your diorama to life.

Technical note: These display elements are inseparable from the 1/35 scale kit (unless specifically requested) and will under no circumstances be sold separately, as they are an integral part of my unique interpretation of this model.

"Do you want to further personalize your model or enhance your dioramas with additional accessories? I highly recommend checking out the work of Kéria Prod and Dynamo Models . They are key players in the field, and I personally recommend them for the quality of their pieces. They offer accessories that will perfectly complement your creations, allowing you to create ever richer and more detailed scenes."
