Rye Field Model: Tiger I End of Production Battle of Villers-Bocage 1:35 Limited Edition

Wittmann's Tiger tank attacked at 9:00. A few minutes later, on the road to Caen, it destroyed three British armored vehicles: a Sherman Firefly, a Cromwell tank, and another armored vehicle. It continued its journey toward the village of Villers without stopping, attacking the light armored vehicles of the British rifle brigade. In all, Wittman, his crew, and his tank destroyed ten half-tracks, four Universal Carriers, two personnel carriers, two six-pounder anti-tank guns, and three Stuart light tanks. Entering Villers-Bocage alone, he destroyed three of the four Cromwells that had taken up positions opposite the Lemonnier farm.

On Rue Clemenceau, he destroyed two Sherman command tanks of the 5th Royal Horse Artillery before destroying a scout car and a new half-track. Arriving at Place Jeanne-d'Arc, he came face to face with a Sherman Firefly commanded by British Sergeant Lockwood of Group B. The Firefly was one of the few Allied tanks capable of destroying a Tiger head-on with its 17-pounder gun. The British tank fired four shots, one of which hit the Tiger's hull. In response, the Tiger fired back but missed its target. However, the shot hit a wall that collapsed on the Sherman, preventing it from continuing the fight. Witmann turned his slightly damaged tank around and returned to Rue Clemenceau.
