 With 654 units produced between 1940 and 1945, the Type VII-C was the flagship of the Kriegsmarine. Submarines of this type were produced throughout World War II. The first Type VII-C U-boat was the U-69, launched in 1940.
 The Type VII-C was a highly effective war machine, present almost everywhere U-boats operated, although its range was less than that of the imposing Type IX.
