The Mirage 2000 is a fighter aircraft designed by the French company Dassault Aviation in the late 1970s. Although the delta-wing design is reminiscent of the Mirage III of the 1960s and the Mirage 2000 is of comparable size, it is in fact an entirely new aircraft, with a larger wing area, naturally unstable to improve its maneuverability and equipped with fly-by-wire controls. Introduced into service in 1984, the Mirage 2000 is primarily used by the French Air Force, which has received 315 examples, while another 286 have been exported to eight different countries.
