Hobby Boss: US T29E3 Heavy Tank in 1:35
The T29 was a prototype American heavy tank from World War II. Only six prototypes of this vehicle were built and it never entered mass production. The T29 prototypes were powered by various engines, one of them being a Ford GAC V12 with 650 hp. It was armed with a single 105 mm T5E1 tank gun, a 7.62 mm Browning M1919 machine gun, and three 12.7 mm Browning M2 machine guns.
The T29 tank was created in connection with the threat posed by the introduction of the Pz.Kpfw VI Ausf heavy tanks on the line by the Wehrmacht. B Königstiger. The new American tank was supposed to be an equal opponent for them and be able to fight them at a distance of about 1000 m. For this reason, the T29 prototype placed a lot of emphasis on the excellent armor of the vehicle - especially the front of the turret, where the armor reached up to 249 mm! They were also equipped with a good 105 mm cannon. However, due to the start of work only in the second half of 1944, the T29 vehicles did not have time to enter mass production. The T29 tank did not participate in combat operations.
