Glow2B Modellbau: Dora Railway Gun Limited Edition! in 1:35

The kit was awarded the 2007 Model of the Year award at the Nuremberg International Toy Fair.

The largest plastic (polystyrene) model kit of a weapon ever produced, including photoetched parts, screws, coil springs, aluminum rails, and a plastic chassis. The gun barrel is 1300 mm long and can be mounted movably (swivels upwards). The kit includes 96 injection-molded black plastic parts and 147 separate parts, including 80 wheels, 16 chassis parts, and 6 barrel parts. The largest and most elaborate guns in the world that were actually used were the Dora and the Schwerer Gustav. These special guns are often mistakenly called railway guns, but the short tracks were only for construction and served as a firing curve for aiming. The Krupp company built the two giant guns between 1937 and 1941. The guns had hydraulic crank locks, the gun consisted of a jacket tube and a central tube, which were stored in a tubular cradle. It was mounted between two long carriage rails, which were mounted on intermediate supports on the eight 5-axle bogies. The entire load was distributed over 2 parallel tracks. The gun was powered by its own generator, among other things for the electric motors of some axles for targeting. The only combat mission was the siege of the Sevastopol fortress on the Crimean Peninsula. From June 5 to July 2, 1942, 48 armor-piercing shells were fired at the city fortifications, followed by 5 more shells with explosive grenades (4 at sea and one at Maxim Gorky I). Another target was a 30-meter ammunition depot in the cultivated and submerged soil with the entire stock of Sevastopol ammunition for 2 years. 16 shots were fired at this target and a tall column of smoke was observed.
