FCM2C ARMORED TRANSPORT BOGIE 3D PRINTING
The Schneider and Saint-Chamond tanks were moved on wagons or by special trailers. The FT tanks were transported by truck whenever the trip justified it. With its mass of 70 tons and its length of 10 m, long-distance transport of the 2C was exceptional. It was planned to be transported by rail (which explains the narrowness of the tank, limited to 2.95 m). Instead of being placed as usual on a platform wagon, which its height did not allow, the 2C constituted the central part of the wagon. At each end was attached a 3-axle truck. The assembly of the whole thing required several hours and the construction of a timber yard to hoist the 2C to the right level.
In May 1940, this constraint proved fatal to the last 2Cs. During their journey, stuck in the middle of a German bombardment, the 2Cs were scuttled by their crews. This episode shows that the war had changed in nature. The procedural heaviness customary during WWI was no longer in place. The kit includes the two complete bogies, the rails and railway sleepers.
NOT INCLUDED IN THE KIT: the FCM2C armored vehicle, not the ballast, nor the crossing tail.
