AMUSING HOBBY Me262 HGIII Draft III 1/48
Messerschmitt's design and development department worked on innovative new projects as well as developing existing models, including the Me 262.
In order to advance in the field of supersonic flight and to optimize flight characteristics, the Me 262 V9 was equipped with the first stage of a high-speed aircraft (HGI) with a flat canopy and a swept horizontal tail as well as an enlarged vertical stabilizer.
The last flights took place in March 1945.
In the second stage, the wings were to be swept at 35 degrees, while in the third stage, 45 degrees were planned. In addition, the engines were to be located on the left and right sides of the fuselage. A three-seater night fighter was also planned in this configuration.
After the end of the war, these projects were no longer pursued.
